Loukoumades (Greek Honey Dumplings)

Loukoumades (Greek Honey Dumplings)Ingredients:
1 kilo of flour (all purpose)
½ cup of fresh milk
1 tablespoon of salt
2 tablespoons of sugar
Yeast (size of a walnut)
2 glasses lukewarm water 1 kilo sunflower oil
For the syrup:
1 ½ kilo of sugar
1 ½ kilo of water
2 cinnamon sticks
Cloves
½ lemon juice
Preparation:
In a large bowl mix the flour, the sugar and the salt. In another bowl mix the yeast, the milk and the lukewarm water, stir until the yeast melts and pour into the flour bowl. Leave it for half an hour to  ¾ until it starts to rise. Heat the oil in a saucepan. When the dough has risen take it in your hand and from the top of squeeze a nice piece out, take a spoon and dip it in the hot oil. Each time dip the spoon in water so it doesn’t stick. Stir until they have fried and as soon as they are golden brown take them out and pour the syrup (lukewarm) all over. Stir well and use a slotted spoon to serve them on a plate and sprinkle cinnamon and finely chopped walnut on top. Notes:boil the syrup for 15 minutes. Kapsimali Marianthi
