Varvara
½ kilo of sesame seeds (or tahini)
5-6 chickpeas (optional)
5-6 black beans (optional)
½ kilo of sugar
Cinnamon
Preparation:
Boil the wheat in a saucepan and when it is half cooked add the chickpeas, the raisins and the black beans. Bring to boil again until they are all cooked. Take off the heat and add the sesame seeds, having first oven cooked them for a while and grounded them. You can use the tahini instead of the sesame seeds, but first mix it with a little water. Once more place the pan on heat and bring to a boil. Serve and add sugar, as much as you like, add the pomegranate seeds and cinnamon.
Notes:We make this dessert in our village and in Kos Island in general on Saint Barbara’s Day on the 4th of December (it’s traditional).
