For 2nd year the International Festival of Cinema on the subject of health “Hippocrates” comes to end. The Festival presents via cinematographic films myth – making, documentary and informative films that describe medical advances issues that inform the developments of health. Interesting are the conversation between doctors and authors in the and of each projection.  People who attended the Festival said delighted by the number and quality of films screened.

For 2nd year was organized in our island the European Championship Beach Volley under 23 years old where Kos once again proved that it can bring to an end such events. In a really festive atmosphere the people enjoyed the daily matches that were carried out all the days while enthusiastic was the closing ceremony with the awards where the people declared excited that this was an excellent event that honors our island.

Hostess were the Municipal Sports organization of Kos Island in cooperation with Tritons and the Hellenic Speed Club and the races were in 2 phases. On Saturday 18 July 2009 at 11.00 was the first phase by the categories: Racing, Stock, Novic and Pro Ski. On Sunday 19 July 2009 was the second and last phase by the Categories:  Racing, Stock, Novic and Free Style.

For the first time in Kos Island’s sports events a European Championship took place, the "European Championship Beach Volley U20" with athletes of 24 countries under 20 years old. The games were held in Kos Marina in a specially designed area in accordance with the requirements of the European Volleyball Federation suitable and for the athletic part and for the promotion of the Island.
