Beaches of Kos Island

Tigaki Beach

Kos Island - Tigaki BeachTigaki is 11 kilometers far from Kos town and 7 kilometers north of Asfendiou village. It is a popular holiday destination that has been developed during the last decades along the homonymous sandy beach of the northern coast of the island in a green valley background. Years ago the place used to be the locals’ favourite holiday resort. Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing and water sports at the mile long sandy beach with its crystal clear waters (10 kilometers long), which has been awarded a blue flag more than once, not only for being very clean, but also due to its excellent organisation. The shallow waters in Tigaki make this white sandy beach ideal for families with small children and for those who are not good swimmers.  Windsurfing fans will love this place, as there are many big waves to catch at open sea, however if you have never windsurfed before, but feel like trying, there is also a training centre available on the beach.

Agios Theologos

Kos Island - Agios Theologos BeachOne of the most beautiful beaches on Kos Island is Agios Theologos. Agios Theologos is located about 7km southwest of Kefalos village and owes its name to the deserted church of Agios Ioannis Theologos (St.John the Theologian), which the locals honor with a festival on the 29th of August. With its beautiful creeks and rocky coves it is ideal for hours of sunbathing and also suitable for windsurfing especially if you’re a beginner. The dirt road (about 5km) which you have to cross is a minor drawback but once you do then you have the opportunity to enjoy fresh fish at the different taverns that suddenly pop up in front you. Access to the beach is via Kefalos either by bus that runs on a daily basis quite frequently or by car, taxi or motorbike.
